Google, Microsoft Said To Be Preparing Bids For Digg
Digg is a user driven social content website. Everything on Digg is user-submitted. After you submit content, other people read your submission and “Digg” what they like best. Despite a number of false starts, this time a sale looks like it might actually happen, and soon. A source very close to the deal that four companies are in heavy due diligence with Digg - two media/news companies, and two big Internet companies - Google and Microsoft. And Google and Microsoft are on the verge of making their bids.
Last Word: Digg is actually one of the more useful user generated content sites because it incorporates user opinions about the content and lets the population be the judge of the quality and relevance. As a web 2.0 application this as social as it gets and theirs could be the future of “breaking news” reporting.
