Bebo Extends Offering To Include Entertainment
Bebo, one of the top global social networks has extended its offering to include the provision of TV programming via a concept called Open Media. Content will be from a variety of sources including the likes of the UK's BBC and Channel 4. Music services from the likes of Last FM will also be included.
Last word: A shrewd move. The free content is of a high quality and will be perceived as valuable by Bebo's 40 million strong teenage audience. It's also likely to be financially rewarding for both the site and the content partners, as such material is a much more compelling proposition than the opportunity to buy banners on social network pages - the format which Bebo is currently most reliant on.
